Thanks to the Park- und Schloss-Gesamtwerkes, (complete park and castle works) which is, with 20 castles, the largest park and castle area north of the Alps, the 1000 year-old city of Potsdam has been declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.
The castle Sanssouci and Cecilienhof are world-famous. But also the numerous cultural events offered in Potsdam such as museums  (Movie Museum Potsdam), galleries, theatres and classic concerts are worth a visit. Those who are more interested in the present-day Potsdam will visit the Filmpark Babelsberg (Movie Park Babelsberg) or fling themselves into the hottest scene events for night owls.
